| Fact | Detail |
|---|---|
| Region | Purged Village |
| Map cue | West path from the Fork near Margrave’s Manor |
| Rescue reward | Sage card (party heal 8) |
| Alt rescue | Miller → Tasty Rations (Exile) |
| Workstation | Herb bins + mortar inside the house |

From the Chapel / Well spine, fight through Market to the southern Fork. West leads to the Herbalist’s House; south leads to the Miller on the Muddy Path; east is Margrave’s Manor.

Failing or skipping the herbalist rescue does not delete the workstation. Recipes for Salesman and Blacksmith ointments still run here — you just miss the Sage card reward.
Public maps rarely pin pixel coordinates. Navigate by the Fork labels in-game; if nodes differ after a patch, confirm against your journal objectives and Steam discussion screenshots.
Rescue decision next.
Scholar and Exile argue; you pick one. The fight rules differ.
| Choice | Fight catch | Card reward |
|---|---|---|
| Herbalist | Stake gains Buildup — clear it before the countdown burns her | Sage (Scholar) — heal party 8 |
| Miller | Pond timer; enemies chip the timer — finish before it hits zero | Tasty Rations (Exile) — party Strength + Exile Sharp |
Early shared decks often under-heal. Sage is the safer beginner reward unless you specifically want Exile ramp food.
After a turn the Stake gains Buildup. Spend actions clearing Buildup when the countdown is dangerous, then resume killing villagers. Letting her HP hit zero fails the save.
Recipes are why players keep searching this page even after the fork.
These mixes are the ones quest text expects. Count carefully — colour blindness-friendly tip: sort piles before clicking Mix.
| Output | Red | Yellow | Blue | Quest hook |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Salesman’s Ointment | 3 | 2 | 4 | Dangerous Roads — heal the Salesman |
| Ointment for Blacksmith | 2 | — | 4 | Crime and Punishment body recovery |
| Disenchantment potion/card | 1 | 5 | 2 | Wereshrike curse (use card ×3, do not kill) |
He hands Shrike Grass and a recipe. Craft, deliver, earn Memory of a Materialist, then continue eastern dog / hermit beats.
After the Tavern basement recipe, craft at the house, then in the cave fight apply Disenchantment three times. Killing the Wereshrike fails the Hermit friendship path even if you wanted the brain.

Inside the house, add the exact herb counts, then use the mortar to grind.
Continue Crime and Punishment and Dangerous Roads. The house workstation remains the crafting bench for ointments.
Lean on Ethereal timing and food/armor upgrades. Miller’s Tasty Rations still help if that was your fork pick.
Village endings need Margrave’s Insignia via Wereshrike brain or Margrave’s brain from the Legion outpost. Herbalist recipes support the peaceful Wereshrike path — still available without Sage.

One pick. Herbalist → Sage (party heal 8). Miller → Tasty Rations for Exile. The house workstation stays usable either way.
No. The Fork is a one-save choice. Pick the card reward you need, then use the house for recipes either way.
